Plaque 12: Ashby House 114 High Street

This plaque celebrates the many shops that could once be found along Halling High Street. The Ashby family had traded in and around Halling for many years, the shop that was once here being a general store before becoming a butcher’s shop. Ashby’s butcher’s was locally renowned for its sausages! Sid Ashby died in 1980 after over 50 years as a butcher, but his business partner carried on until the shop finally closed a few years later.
